Services

Industrial Design

At our organization, we employ the Furf method to design and create innovative products or enhance existing ones. Our approach encompasses extensive research, establishment of symbolic guidelines, conceptualization, sketching, prototyping, technical detailing, and selection of manufacturers.

Advertising and Marketing Services

Our advertising and marketing services are similar to our industrial design offerings, but with a greater emphasis on branding and advertising purposes. Our team conceptualizes a comprehensive ideation, which can be leveraged for both branding strategy and creation of products used for advertising campaigns. These can be conceptual projects, limited editions or mass produced.

Education

We are passionate about imparting knowledge and sharing our experiences. We do this through various mediums, including lectures, workshops on the Furf method, and creation of complete courses. We also serve as guest professors at universities and coordinate independent courses, both online and in-person. Our lectures and workshops have been conducted in various locations across Europe, South America, Central America, and Asia.

Challenge

Perceiving an emerging market of 3D-printed prosthetic leg
covers worldwide, Ethnos approached Furf Design Studio for the
development of a solution with the benefits of a 3D-printed cover,
however, at an affordable price for the Brazilian population.

Furf Solution

Furf Design Studio seized the opportunity and went further: they
created Confetti – the world’s first mass-produced prosthetic leg cover.
Furf focused on the purpose of the project and, instead of using 3D
printing, created a revolutionary product, with higher quality, 80%
more accessible to the end consumer and with a 200% higher profit
margin for Ethnos. In addition to meeting the demand for Brazilian
consumers originally ordered by Ethnos, the product became an option
for amputees from around the world to customize their prostheses,
opening the company’s borders.

Results

Ethnos started selling the product to 20 countries.

More than 6,500 covers sold globally.

Confetti today accounts for 7.6% of the group’s sales of
orthotics and prosthetics.

The company conquered the 3 most acclaimed design awards in
the world, opening doors to the international market.

The new product gave birth to a new brand, ID, focused on this
segment of products.

Autumn Case

“Two words summarize Furf: friendship and professionalism. They are
talented artists. They are spectacular people. They fulfill a context. ”
– Eduardo Filgueiras, Technical Director

Challenge

Nova Kaeru was preparing to introduce beLeaf, a leather-like biotech
tissue made only of leaves. The novelty of the invention, which carries
with it the mission of offering ecological options to replace the use
of animal-based materials, is focused to sell on the market a solution
that draws a sustainable perspective and also has the potential to
be used in high-end ideas. The ideia of working with high-skilled
designers, to show the material’s potential, was born.

Furf Solution

Furf, after thoroughly studying the material, created the Autumn
collection. The idea was to visualize a product line that valued the
natural aesthetic of the leaves, a hybrid appeal that merges the
artificial and the natural. To help tell this story, a photoshoot was held
with clothes and scenarios designed to enhance the media interest.
The Autumn project spotlighted the new biotech fabric.

Results

Exposure of the material in the media, including galleries,
widespread newspapers and international websites.

A prototype that emanates the power of Design with an
ecological footprint.

Marketing material for use on Nova Kaeru’s media-kit.

Partnership for future projects between the companies.

Hundreds of new potential customers got in touch with the
company interested in the material.

Click Family Case

Challenge

National Geographic was looking to create a seatbelt addon to encourage children to use the seatbelt. The idea of the
campaign was to bring awareness to what is the leading cause
of accidental child death in Latin America. The briefing included
design, development, supplier selection, feasibility and first
batch delivery.

Furf Solution

Based on the concept presented, Furf Design Studio has
envisioned a seatbelt add-on based on the most beloved
animals in Latin America that symbolizes the family of their
own upbringing. When the two parts of the belt are joined, the
kid feels united with their family. All pieces are customizable
to create a link with the child. The family can be made up
of father and mother, two mothers, two fathers, mother
and grandparent. The intention is to make the child feel
represented by any and all forms of family configuration and
feel safe in transit. The whole process had the collaboration of
specialists in child psychology and sustainability and lasted 3
months from the receiving the project’s scope to the delivery of
the first batch.

Results

Product distribution in Latin America as part of a Nat
Geo’s endomarketing campaign.

Construction of an environmentalist and sustainable
perception through the use of wood instead of plastic in
the product development.

Family diversity awareness within the company.

Case Her Code

Challenge

To create, along with the O Boticário teams, a new perfume concept, profile and bottle for women of the Brazilian market and abroad.

Furf Solution

Her Code, O Boticário’s groundbreaking perfume, was created to tackle societal taboos surrounding female pleasure. Along with O Boticário’s team, the challenge was to create not just a revolutionary concept and bottle but a symbol of empowerment and liberation, sparking open discussions and awareness while challenging established norms. Furf Design Studio participated in the development of the concept since the initial meetings, research and development of symbolisms and semiotics, market research and developed the design of the bottle. Her Code is a captivating fragrance with an iconic padlock-shaped packaging. This design served as a powerful visual statement, while intuitively opening to symbolize liberation. The bottle’s shape transformed the fragrance into a personal intimacy object, promoting self-knowledge and acceptance. The project also emphasized sustainability, with a refillable bottle made from recyclable materials. It also carries NFC technology so users can access a virtual hotel with a series of media and contents from experts with knowledge about female pleasure and health.
